That’s correct, you can now explore the “Blues City” while gliding on a Segway PT (personal transporter) with the Segway Experience of Memphis
Collaborating with The Peabody Memphis hotel
, Segway Inc., introduces a new way for both visitors and resident to see the city.
“Memphis has so much to offer,” says Suzanne Dumreseq, a public relations specialist for Segway Inc. “The breadth of history here is so deep.”
The tour departs from the hotel and heads toward the well-known Beale Street
entertainment district. Along the way, everyone can take in views the Mississippi River and historical landmarks like the Orpheum Theatre
, National Civil Rights Museum at Lorraine Motel
“The tour is a mix of the city’s history and music history,” comments Deb Novak, with Segway Inc. “It focuses on a little of everything.”
The two-hour tour begins with a safety video and Segway PT orientation. Once out and about, the tour includes a few photo stops along the Riverwalk
, at Lorraine Hotel and on Beale Street.
Tours are offered daily, and cost is $59 per person. Some restrictions do apply. Reservation can be made by calling 901-529-4108, or through the Peabody Hotel if you are staying on the property.
