“Peaceful” and “tranquil” are two words that easily comes to owner Mary Wolters’ mind when describing Red Horse Inn
She sums it up with, “It’s serenity unplugged.”
“The property really takes your breath away. The view is so awesome and expansive. We can actually see some guests take a deep breath and exhale when they look around. Just by breathing in the air, it’s instant peace.”
Located about 30 minutes from Greenville, S.C.
, in Landrum, the AAA 4-Diamond property plays up to its settings by offering awe-inspiring 360-degree view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The main house, situated on its own hill, offers six bedroom suites
. While they all include fireplaces and whirlpools, don’t think these are cookie-cutter rooms. Each one has its own personality and style. Two of the rooms private private entrances for those seeking a secluded getaway. The other four rooms are located off the courtyard. For those who can’t relax without modern amenities (and you know who you are), there isn’t any need to worry because the rooms come equipped with TVs, DVDs and more. Wireless Internet is available throughout the inn as well.
Amp up your escape to Red Horse Inn by booking one of their six private cottages
which she says (they) “look like something of a storybook.” Collectively the cottages have a kitchen, bedroom, bath and living areas. Separately, three of them have whirlpool tubs, while three of them offer private outdoor hot tubs.
“We really pay attention to the details. We believe God is in the details, not the devil.”
One of the many special touches to Red Horse Inn is their “kitchen closet
.” According to Wolters, they don’t serve breakfast in the common area.
“When you’re on a vacation, you don’t want to be on a schedule. Staying at Red Horse Inn is your private escape, and everything you need is right there.”
Breakfast at your leisure items can include anything from muffins and croissants to fresh fruit or quiches, along with juice and coffee.
Even after breakfast, you can still take your time and spend it wisely by unwinding. Whether you explore the property, take a walk in the woods, relax under the arbor or just stay in your room - it’s up to you. If you just have to do something, learn about the area around you through one of the property’s self-guided add-ons
like the “gardener’s package” or the “covered bridges or waterfalls package.”
“It all comes together to add to the overall experience,” says Wolters.
