2010 just isn’t any year for Dollywood
, it’s special.
This year the entertainment park celebrates its 25th anniversary. And as everyone knows in the hospitality industry, reaching a milestone like this says a lot about your product.
Strong on “Creating Memories Worth Repeating,” Dollywood is home to over 40 rides
and attractions that include something for everyone from the Mystery Mine coaster
to the much tamer Rockin’ Roadway
. There’s live entertainment and crafters, as well. Where else but Dollywood can you go and watch the construction of a wagon
. It’s one of the few places left that still hand makes them.
And don’t think because it’s their 25th anniversary that they are resting. Quite the opposite. The park has opened up a new attraction, Adventure Mountain
. Situated on two acres, this is the largest challenge course in the country. There are four different courses with various obstacles and other elements, such as suspension bridges and flying islands.
You can’t visit Dollywood without going to a show
. In its second year, Sha-Kon-A-Hey! Land of Blue Smoke
, continues to be a favorite among guests.
Created for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s 75th anniversary in 2009, the musical show, which features eight songs that Dolly herself wrote, tells the story about the last family to leave the area. In a true entertainment sense, the production will hold your attention until the house lights come back on.
Adjacent to the park is Dollywood’s Splash Country
. If you don’t go, you’ll miss experiencing the waterpark that won the International Association of Amusement Park & Attractions Must-See Waterpark Award in 2009.
On 35 acres, the waterpark has a few surprises, like the 70-foot tall Fire Tower Falls
, the state’s tallest twin speed slides. In fact, it’s so steep that it’s said when you are sitting on the top, waiting to go down, you can’t see the bottom of the slide. In addition to other slides, including two for families, there’s a lazy river, two children’s areas, a wave pool and more.
For 2010, Splash Country has introduced the Slick Rock Racer
, a four-lane mat slide. Sounds pretty calm until you hit
those bumps and gain speed. Just so that you know, you will get wet - there’s no way around it - but you will have fun.
This is just the beginning of what Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country has to offer. Visit for yourself this year to “create those memories worth repeating.”
