One of the best ways to truly experience a destination is through the food. Discovering local dishes and local favorites tend to lend to good times and great memories while traveling.
And from October 15 – November 15, you can sample some of Polk County, Fla.’s fare during the area’s inaugural “Savor the Flavor of Polk
” dining month.
Carol DeHaven, with the Central Florida Visitors and Convention Bureau
says this showcases the creative and unique way cuisine the chefs in Polk County prepare for locals and visitors alike.
“Polk County has many diverse culinary experiences that will satisfy anyone’s hunger,” she comments. “You can experience great food ranging from slow-roasted barbecue at a family-owned restaurant, fresh fish and gator at a rustic fish camp, to a six-course gourmet meal in a historic dining room.”
The 12 area restaurants participating include Chalet Suzanne
in Lake Wales, Gary’s Oyster Bar & Seafood House
in Lake Alfred, The Tearoom at the Stanford Inn
in Bartow, and Sundown Southern Eatery
in Winter Haven.
According to DeHaven, each of the restaurants have created a special menu for this event and can be requested during the event. It’s $10 for a two-course lunch and $25 for a three-course dinner.
