17 Celebrations Honoring the Red, White and Blue

Fireworks, parades, live music and much more, destinations large and small throughout the South celebrate Independence Day in grand style.

In addition to Fair St. Loius in St. Louis, Missouri, and the 4th of July Jacinto Festival in Jacinto, Mississippi, here are 17 other celebrations where you can honor the Red, White and Blue.

🇺🇸 While technically not a fourth of July celebration, the 63rd annual National Tom Sawyer Days, however, is a slice of Americana. From June 30 - July 7, festivities include everything from a carnival to fence painting (July 6) a frog jump competition (July). On July 4, there's a scheduled parade at 10 a.m., and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

🇺🇸 Watch the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Washington, Arkansas. Taking place at Historic Washington State Park on June 30 and July 4 (10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.), hear the Declaration of Independence read aloud as was common in the 19th century at the community’s 1874 Courthouse Visitor Center. Afterward, sign your own “John Hancock” to a copy of the Declaration to take home.

🇺🇸 Considered among one of the top fireworks shows in the nation, Kaboom Town!  on July 3 in Addison, Texas, features a 30-minute ground-launched fireworks show. Before the show, all ages can enjoy a carnival, midway games and more, including an airshow.

🇺🇸 Fourth of July at Round Top, Texas, is regarded as the longest-running Fourth of July celebration west of the Mississippi. The celebration begins with a firing of civil war-era cannon and events that include a parade, live music and more.

🇺🇸 Louisiana's oldest permanent settlement, Natchitoches honors July 4 with Celebration on the Cane. Enjoy a fireworks show over Cane River Lake.

🇺🇸 Celebrate 4th of July in downtown Vicksburg, Mississippi. The evening's line-up features live music at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks behind the Old Depot Museum at 9 p.m.

🇺🇸 Independence Day Street Party at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama, on July 3. From 5 - 9 p.m., the event features kid-friendly activities, live music and much more. Fireworks begin at 8:45 p.m.

🇺🇸 For something a little different, experience the first Independence Parade in the Nation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The name comes from the fact that it begins at 12:01 a.m., the parade begins at traffic light #1A on East Parkway, turns south onto the Parkway at traffic light #3 and travels the length of downtown to traffic light #10, and stretches more than a mile. Arrive early on July 3 to get a good viewing spot Celebrations throughout the day will end just in time for 10 p.m. fireworks. In nearby Pigeon Forge, the 28th annual Patriot Festival on July 4  starts at noon and features food vendors, a kids’ carnival and live entertainment. A firework show at 9:45 p.m. concludes the evening.

🇺🇸 Old Fourth Ward Business Association and Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Georgia, have partnered to present Fireworks in Fourth Ward. In its first year, the event offers kids' activities along with bites from local vendors and food trucks; and pours from wine tents, Creature Comforts Brewing Co. and Three Taverns Craft Beers. The evening culminates with a firework show. Stream or download a curated music soundtrack from Ponce City Market’s website and listen to July 4th tunes alongside every crackle and pop.

🇺🇸 Why limit Independence Day celebration to one day when you can enjoy a week of All-American fun in Panama City Beach, Florida. Kicking it all off is Light up the Bay Fireworks and Events on July 1 at Sheraton Bay Point Resort. On July 3, Freedom Rocks! takes place at Grand Lagoon, with fireworks at 9 p.m. City of Panama Beach at Aaron Bessant Park will host a Veterans Memorial Ceremony on July 4 to honor those who have served in the armed forces, and that evening is the Star Spangled Spectacular, the largest fireworks display on the Gulf Coast. At 9 p.m., watch dueling fireworks from the City (Russell-Fields) and County (M.B. Miller) Piers. Be sure to arrive to secure a good viewing spot. On July 5, return to Aaron Bessant Park Amphitheater for Panama City Beach’s Summer Concert Series at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks. Wrap up the week on July 6 with the 12th Annual Beach Bash at Boardwalk Beach Resort. The beach's largest private fireworks show starts at 8:30 p.m.

🇺🇸 It's a day of patriotic fun, food and fanfare at Delray Beach, Florida's July 4th Celebration. From 5 - 9:30 p.m., enjoy back-to-back live music, a Kid’s Corner, food trucks and a beer garden. The event concludes with a fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean.

🇺🇸 On July 7, visit Cowpens National Battlefield in Gaffney, South Carolina, in for Freedom at Cowpens from 9:45 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The Continental Army’s decisive victory in the Battle of Cowpens, fought in 1781, was the turning point of the Revolutionary War in the southern colonies. Enjoy a day of battlefield tours, weapons firing demonstrations, a reading of the Declaration of Independence (10:15 a.m.), and more.

🇺🇸 Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, hosts their 4th of July Celebration at Waterfront Park. Enjoy an evening of live entertainment and fun, starting at 6 p.m. Fireworks illuminate the sky at 9:05 p.m. If you're in the area on July 3, head over to Carolina Beach for Independence Day by the Sea at Boardwalk at the Gazebo, featuring a free concert and fireworks. Entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m., with fireworks at 9 p.m.

🇺🇸 Louisville Waterfront Fourth at Waterfront Park features musical entertainment, family activities, festival eats and patriotic installation of 15,000 US flags. At the end of the evening, there's a Zambelli fireworks display from a barge on the Ohio River. Festivities begin at 5 p.m., with fireworks at 10 p.m.

🇺🇸 Salute the 242nd anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with the
Liberty Celebration at The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, Virginia. On July 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., enjoy interpretive programs, military drills and artillery demonstrations, and more.

Learn how clothing was dyed during the 18th century in “Dyeing for the Cause,” a program at the Revolution-era farm. Join in a reading of the Declaration of Independence, participate in a wooden-musket drill, or take part in an “Effigy Tax Protest” against the British Stamp Tax.

🇺🇸 Lees and Independence Family Fun Festival at Stratford Hall in Stratford, Virginia on July 4 offers special tours, educational history tents featuring colonial games, geocaching activities and more. Plan to spend the entire as the festivities run from 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

🇺🇸 Join Wheeling (West Virginia) Symphony at Celebrate America! from 4 to 11 p.m., on July 4 at Heritage Point. Take in an enjoy of patriotic tunes followed by a fireworks display.
