Discovering the Lake Oconee Area

Even though Lake Oconee is located between Atlanta and Augusta, Ga., it feels as if it's a world away. Recognized as the state's second largest lake, the area is perhaps best known as a top golfing destination. However, Lake Oconee is also heralded for its natural beauty and outdoor activities beyond the links. It's here that you'll find Reynolds Plantation, along with The Ritz Carlton Lodge, both offering a unique getaway for many.

Reynolds Plantation

Whether you are traveling with family, on a friends' getaway or as a couple, there are plenty accommodations to chose among at the lakefront community of Reynolds Plantation. Options include everything from two - to six-bedroom cottages to two- to  three-bedroom condos to even hotel-style rooms.

Once you are settled in, it is time for fun. One of the best things about being here is that you can do as much as you want or as little as you want. So, if you want to catch up on (or start) that novel you bought two months ago, go ahead.

For those wanting a little more action, get on the water. Water-based activities include renting a pontoon boat (hourly, half-day or full day), canoe, or kayak. Don't forget about fishing, either; and yes, a license is required before you go after the "big one."
For those looking for dry activities, tennis at the Landing Facility (first come, first serve; or reserve the court for a fee), walking trails and a Heritage & Nature Center, where you can learn more about the history of Reynolds Plantation and see local wildlife found in the area.

The Ritz Carlton Lodge

Situated on 30 acres of Lake Oconee shoreline, the 251-room Ritz Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation blends in well with its surroundings. You can even arrange to rent a jet ski or ski boat, if you so wish. Another extra is the Segway tours. Need a little "sweet" whimsy? Cap off your Lake Oconee experience with s'mores by the lake.

For those looking for the ultimate indulgence, consider booking a spa treatment or two. Choose from various services that also include Vichy Rain experience. And for those staying in a cottage at Reynolds Plantation, you can book a treatment as well. Either drive to the spa, or arrange a boat shuttle through Guest Services.

Dining

And while speaking of indulging, you have to eat; and neither Reynolds Plantation or Ritz Carlton Lodge disappoint in this aspect. With all of the available dining options, there is really no need to leave this area. experience casual club cuisine at The Landing at Reynolds Plantation, or a twist on local favorites at Georgia's Bistro at The Ritz Carlton Lodge. The Plantation Grille at Reynolds Plantation is great place for a relaxing meal. Looking for something a little more upscale? Consider Linger Longer Steak House at The Ritz Carlton Lodge
