The Woofstock Dog Festival - Roanoke Puts On The Dog

If you're in the Roanoke, Virginia area on Saturday, June 2, 2012, grab a leash and your four-footed friend, hop in a car or truck, and come on out to to the Sixth Annual Woofstock Dog Festival!

This fun event is sponsored by Petsmart and Dodson Pest Control, and it's scheduled to run from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. at Elmwood Park (the only entrance will be via Franklin Road).

Tickets are just $5 (cash only). Kids age 12 and under, and dogs, are free.

Woofstock is the biggest dog festival in the state, and it's held each year to help select dog rescue groups raise money to save and care for homeless pets. The event will feature live music, great food, games, contests, a huge silent auction, and much more. Past festivals have included a pet costume contest, an "owner and dog look-alike" competition, and even a doggie kissing game. You'll find vendors offering lots of pet products, and short, informative talks on subjects that range from training a puppy to caring for older dogs.
