Five Ways to Experience Sevierville, Tennessee, and the Smoky Mountains in the Fall

From vibrant autumn foliage to festive decorations, nothing quite compares to fall in Sevierville, Tennessee, and the Great Smoky Mountains.

A prime destination for a weekend getaway or an overnight visit, the area offers plenty to see and do for everyone, regardless of age and interest.

Here's are five ways you can experience Sevierville and the Great Smoky Mountains during fall.

Explore the Outdoors ... Get out in the fresh, crisp fall air and explore the Great Smoky Mountains National Park along one of the many trails.

Walk across America's longest swinging bridge at Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park. Indulge your adventurous side by taking a zip line tour or an ATV tour.

If it's the views you are after, then take a stroll out on the glass bottom Mountain Dew sky bridge at Wahoo Adrenaline Park. Suspended over 300 feet above the French Broad River, it provides sweeping views of the river and the mountains.

Take a Drive ... Discover Sevierville's back roads and historic sites on the English Mountain Fall Foliage driving tour. The self-guided driving tour introduces you to points of interest like the Fair Garden Battleground, the Harrisburg Covered Bridge and more.

Fall-Themed Fun ... Events and activities abound in Sevierville during the fall. Enjoy live music at Sevierville’s Music in Commons on Oct. 20 and 27. Attend the 4th annual Wears Valley Fall Fest (Oct. 20-22) or the Autumn Celebration at Foxfire Mountain Adventures (Oct. 19-22). For something different, there's the Jeep-tober Fest in the Smokies on Sat., Oct. 21.

Stop by Kyker Farms Corn Maze for a family-friendly experience during the day, and then return at night for some"fright" with The Trail and Zombie Blasterz.

Visit Dollywood ... Aside from the rides, entertainment and food at Dollywood, you can also enjoy Great Pumpkin LumiNights (through Oct. 28), an all-new Harvest Festival experience.

View thousands of intricately carved pumpkins as you make your way through harvest-themed displays throughout Dollywood’s Timber Canyon. The younger crowd can participate in harvest games and attractions, including a glow maze, a nightly Pumpkin Boogie dance party and more.

Great Pumpkin LumiNights coincides with the Southern Gospel Jubilee. It's recognized as the largest Southern gospel music event in America with performances by some of the best-known names in the genre.

Go Above and Go Under ... Take to the sky and get a bird's-eye view of the area with Scenic Helicopter Tours. They offer a variety of tours, including a one-of-a-kind National Park Tour.

Spend an hour underground in Forbidden Caverns. See the different formations as well as one of the most extensive white onyx cave walls in the United States. Hear the tales of Indian legends and moonshiners who used the caverns as well.
