Port Side Trading Company

In July my family and I went on a week’s vacation to Cape San Blas, Florida. This is a beach community located in the panhandle of Florida.  The beaches have soft white sand and the Gulf is so clear you can see the bottom. We even had the “pleasure” of seeing a shark up close and personal from the shore; and dolphin, tarpon, and a sting ray were spotted from our kayaks.  It was quite beautiful and relaxing there.

While in Cape San Blas we took a short drive to Port St. Joe to take in some of the sites.  The town itself is quaint and easy to navigate.  Port St. Joe is a fishing town that has grown over the years with the help of beach rentals that attract visitors from all over.  There are many restaurants ranging from hot dog shops to fine dining.  There are many stores to browse in as well.  We got to frequent antique shops, fine artisan stores and even a pet boutique.  One of my favorite stores was the Portside Trading Company.

The Port Side Trading Company is owned by Tom and Marie Todd.  The Todd’s opened this eclectic shop in March of 1999.  After twenty years in real estate Marie was motivated to answer a calling that her real estate clients needed.  More places to patronize while in Port St. Joe and its surrounding areas.  Located at 328 Reid Avenue, Port St. Joe, Florida the staff is friendly and helpful. Southern hospitality really shines here.  The longest staff member is their store manager. She has been there since the store opened and knows the store in and out.  She and Marie work closely together with another employee to make sure that all the items are placed just right ensuring the right amount of exposure for a sale.

Some of the store’s top items are jewelry that Marie orders from all over the world.  Marie is also expanding her jewelry to some made by local artists. The handbags all do well too. One particular line The Portside Trading Company carries is Spartina 449. Other items such as serving pieces, wine glasses, Tervis tumblers and collegiate specialty items are hot sellers as well.

Consider taking a drive over to the Cape San Blas / Port St. Joe area. You will not be disappointed in the beauty that is prevalent in this area of Florida.
